Evaluation 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression from it to the full product?

Preliminary Task

I think from doing my Preliminary Task i have learned a lot on how to produce a Magazine. Also improving on Photoshop would be my main improvement through the process of creating my product. As you can see there is a big difference from my prelim

task to my actual main product and i feel that using a style model really helps you and helped make my final product look professional.

for my prelim task the colours i have used are very boring but i think if i was to go back and start again with all the tips and what i've learnt through the this process on phototshop i would make massive improvements and add more effects and better colours.

For my Main task i feel that i have used much more detail and added more conventions such as quotes, more images, also i've added more colour and techniques throughout and made it look more like an actual magazine.

Evaluation 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Throughout the duration of constructing my media product i have learnt so much about the different technologies that are available. Its also been a massive learning curve and something that i can improve even more on when i progress into A2.

When creating my product i have learned how to use a canon EOS 1100D digital camera which gave me quality detailed pictures when i came to taking my photos for my product and i didn't fell that i had to edit them that much because of the quality. Also i learned about all the different shots you could take by using the rule of thirds on the canon like a medium close up, head shot, long shot etc.

This is the Prezi logo and used for my evaluation questions.
Also i learned a lot about Blogger which was something i had never used before so it was a whole new learning curve for me, but when i got taught step by step it became easy and i quickly started to make progress with my coursework. throughout the process we also learnt how to use Slideshare and Prezi which was very easy to use once you got to grips with it yet it was a good way to publish certain parts of my coursework.

Lastly i found that photoshop was difficult to use when starting my prelim task and all the features were new to me but as i got onto my main task of creating my product i found that it was much simpler to use and i started experimenting with different effects and blending options to create good effects on my product. I really enjoyed using photoshop to create my Music Magazine.

Evaluation 5 – How did you attract/address your audience

Evaluation 5
 http://www.slideshare.net/callumsmith_95/evaluation-5-34994177
Evaluation 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

My main target Audience is for predominately Males roughly from the ages of 16 - late 20's but also the use of my band the Back Door Alley which features a female lead singer means this isn't exclusive to men.Within my media product i have used a variety of artists like the Arctic Monkeys, Kings Of Leon, Jay Z and all sorts of genres like Rap, R&B, POP but mainly Indie. Also i have special interviews with Alex Turner the lead singer in the Arctic Monkeys. These sort of groups would attract my audience.

I would say my magazine has a big indie feel and look to it, this is shown by the clothing i have my models wearing on my main image on the front cover of my media product and the sort of artists i have within my magazine.

I have a couple of audience profiles to show the type of people that would be in my target audience.

Name: Andy Houghton

Favourite Artists: Arctic Monkeys, Eminem, Miles kane, Black Keys

Evaluation 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

For my Media Music Magazine i will be looking closely at IPC and Bauer Media  as its important because i don't want to be competing with another magazine similar to mine that has already got a large audience, as mine will be a new magazine to the market.

The first institution ill be looking at is IPC Media which is the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publisher, which has more than 60 iconic media brands. IPC creates content for multiple platforms from Print, online, Mobile, tablets and events. IPC Engages with 26 million UK adults, almost two thirds of UK women and over 40% of UK men and there award winning portfolio of websites reaches over 25 million global users every month.

IPC publishes a very popular magazine called NME. NME is the longest published and most respected music weekly in the world. Every week is gives its readers the most exciting and authoritative coverage of the very best in new music, including award winning features and also the latest releases as well as a regular look back through the magazines incredible 60 year heritage. So when i come to distributing my product i wont chose IPC  as my magazine is very similar to NME.

The second institution ill be looking at is Bauer Media which are Europe's largest privately owned publishing group. The group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations. Bauer Media is a multi-platform UK based media group consisting of many companies collected around two main divisions which are Magazines and Radio.

I think i would chose Bauer media when distributing my product as they don't have a product like mine so there wont be any competition however there will be competition with IPC Media with NME but if i worked closely with Bauer they could ensure it wouldn't happen as they have experience as they have distributed a magazine which is the top selling in the world.

Evaluation 2 How does the media product represent a particular social group?

Evaluation 2
How does the media product represent a particular social group?

My media product represents both males and females as shown on the front cover of my music magazine, with there being both  male and a femal modeling on the cover. Also i think that my magazine would represent similar social groups to NME.

The age range that i am representing through my magazine is around 18 - late 20s, even though my models are 16 they look very mature and older than they actually are, and the characters they are playing are much older so they have also had to dress more mature.

My media product is stereotypically is aimed towards an audience of  middle class which would fall under income bracket B because my music magazine is £2.99 so it would fall into that particular social group.

Evaluation 1 - In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

When creating my Media product, i have made sure that i have include as many conventions as possible from a real music magazine. Conventions of a music magazine are, masthead, cover lines, barcode, date main image. Throughout my product i have tried to stick to my style model which has been NME. I have tried to stick to the conventions NME use but also add my own personal twists and feel to the product.

pre downloaded images i have used for my front cover, Jay Z, Lady Gaga and Alex Turner
I chose these 3 artists because it shows the diversity of my magazine and also its just not about one style of music there are different genres which will draw a wider audience.
